We are interested in doing a feature on our printed editorial pages this weekend in which readers weigh in on which of the four proposed downtown arena sites they prefer. These submissions would be treated like letters to the editor (and must include your name, town and contact information, and be fewer than 200 words). If you are interested in participating, e-mail your thoughts by Thursday morning to letters@wichitaeagle.com. Thanks.

How about we put the money into public schools and let the f***ing marketplace build the arena?
Thanks Joe!
Speaking for the 81,000 Sedgwick County voters who voted against the arena plus thousands more who have since turned against it after learning the facts — the best choice is “none of the above.” Just say no and don’t build it at all. There are other alternatives that would be much better for renewing downtown Wichita. And the Coliseum still remains the best arena site for large public gatherings.
How about the one closest to the jail, after all it can be used for an overflow penal facility.
I vote for ‘none of the above’. Consider the following facilities that recently have needed governmental subsidies:
Indian Center; Exploration Place; Ice Sports; Cowtown. Do we really NEED another subsidized palace?
How ’bout we donate the new arena to New Orleans? No, maybe not- they’ve got enough troubles. Let’s just go with “none of the above.” If it’s going to be the moneymaker the proponents claim, why the hell aren’t they out there building it?
Jed–
Because it’s only “socialism” if it helps the poor and middle class.
If it helps the rich enjoy gladitorial contests, well, then it’s a sound business decision.
The new arena is one of the best things to happen in Wichita. I’m glad that the majority of the people in the county saw it that way.
:)
Joe,Best thing or not, I’ll never get to see the inside of it. Tickets are just too damn expensive. But it’s nice to know I’ll be helping foot the tab for all you guys that can.
They can build the thing in Timbuktu for all I care! The Eagle sent me an email asking me to contribute to their reader survey. They really don’t want to know what I think the city should do with their arena. As far are the majority voting yes, well I think the majority in Wichita and Kansas have already proven what a bunch of uninformed idiots they are – so that doesn’t carry a lot of weight with me!
VC,The National Association of Idiots, Morons and Imbecils is planning to file suit against you for defamation of idiots, so watch who you call an idiot. They’re a litigious bunch!
Good one Jed – I say “Bring ‘em on!” =0)
Let’s see if I’ve got this right.
“The Mayor’” doesn’t like the North Site because, “It doesn’t meet our needs.” The County, accoring to reports, seems to favor the north site. The City, says we have to look at the Big Picture and that no one promised us, that only one of the previously mentioned three sites, would be chosen, as the ultimate site.
Seems like, we’re just like a “dog in a round house.” Chasing our tail and accomplishing nothing.
Would whomever, is in charge, make a damn decision. Whether it be the City or the County. If it isn’t you call, shut up and recognize that fact.
Guess we just need to hire another consulting firm.
James;
You pretty well got the thing right. We small town hicks think we are sofisticated and hire out of town consultants who do nothing but leave town with bags full of our money and laugh all the way to the bank. They look back over their shoulder and chuckle again as we try to figure out how to bail out the last good idea some idiot had here.Maybe just maybe the voters will get off thier backsides and go to the polls this trip.
