A recent Eagle Opinion Line comment said that Karl Rove and Robert Novak likely were glad for Hurricane Katrina. Maybe, but New York Times reporter Judith Miller’s release from jail Thursday means that the Valerie Plame case is back in the news. Miller’s grand jury testimony today — in which she is expected to finger I. Lewis Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff — was among the last evidence that prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald was after, which means the investigation may wrap up soon. Any bets on whether Rove walks? On where Libby got his information?

Karl Rove and Libby–outing covert agent Valerie Plame, head of a CIA WMD division
Senate majority leader Frist–investigated for insider stock trading in family owned HCL corp.
House majority leader DeLay–indicted for breaking campaign finance laws
Court rules that 87 photos and 4 video tapes of torture and sexual humiliation at Abu Ghraib prison must be released. According to Sy Hersch, at least one of the videos shows an Iraqi boy under ten getting raped, “the worst part are the screams,” he said.
Meanwhile the president who claimed he would never involve our country in a military action unless the goal of the mission was “clear” and there was a stated “exit strategy,” has us in a war without end in Iraq (1-2 billion a week), gasoline prices have nearly doubled, and average incomes continue to fall.
Hey, Republicans, nothing fails like success when you’ve got Bush at the helm, does it?
Compared to the Clinton’s legal problems, Bush is a Saint. Clinton has a more ‘firsts’ and ‘top of lists’ than any other president when it comes to White House shenanigans. Do you want to go there? Due process, son. Due process. Oh, I forgot. You are an idealogue dinosaur.
Oh, and Bush’s exit strategy? Iraqi constitution, elections, and a trained military to protect their version of democracy (not ours). Got it? Clear? Not easy, though. The irony is that the Iraqi people want this more than the liberals in the US want it for the Iraqi’s. Your weakness is the terroists best weapon.
OT with respect to Rove and Libby
For ID:
‘Saint George’? I guess it isn’t technically impossible, since the Catholic Church has canonized a number of folks involved in holy wars that killed millions for no good reason.
Exit, schmexit. W no more wants out of Iraq than ID can keep from imposing his ideological fantasy ‘give the helpless dark people democracy’ template on Iraq.
It isn’t about democracy, and it certainly isn’t about WMD; never was. There’s gold in them thar dunes–black gold! Texas tea! All of your rah-rah-rah’s to the contrary, things are going EXACTLY according to plan: foster a civil war, bring about the breakup of Iraq so there’s no central government to oppose us, and let the good petro times roll!
However, getting there is, well, kind of messy, and is, well, a disaster. But don’t take my word for it (not that I expect you will. Here’s a blurb about the views of Ret. Lt. Gen. William Odum of the Hudson Institute:
“Retired Army Lt. Gen. William Odom, a Vietnam veteran, said the invasion of Iraq alienated America’s Middle East allies, making it harder to prosecute a war against terrorists. The U.S. should withdraw from Iraq, he said, and reposition its military forces along the Afghan-Pakistani border to capture Osama bin Laden and crush al Qaeda cells. “The invasion of Iraq I believe will turn out to be the greatest strategic disaster in U.S. history,” said Odom, now a scholar with the Hudson Institute.”
And THAT’S coming from a bona fide Neocon. I’d say YOU are part of the problem, ID, and NOT part of the solution.
Second verse, same as the first. Guess I can’t get enough of that ol’ time liberal religion.
The Neocon is a wise man. Haven’t seen where he has connected the war to oil-industry dots like you libs, though. General Odom’s opinion, and it is an opinion, is based on his experience in another war that the anti-American US public openly protested, too. Now, I wonder what the retired General Tommy Franks would have to say in response to General Odom?
OK, next step. Are Rove and Libby going to be tried for treason? Hahahaha………
“The anti-American US public”…didn’t we see a cartoon on that a while back?
Gen. Casey reported a few days ago that the three battalions of Iraqi troops had actually fallen to only one battalion.
So give W. another year and the Iraqis will actually have no troops.
*****
Also, ID, why Iraq and not China? When HW could have supported the Tiananmen uprising (you remember, the one where the students actually constructed their own flippin’ STATUE OF LIBERTY), he didn’t even pay lip service to democracy in China.
Or how about Afghanistan? We’ve been there a year longer than Iraq and other than no Taliban in power, things are pretty much the same. . . . except for the record opium output.
Or what about the African states like the Sudan where black Africans are starved in systematic genocide, where slavery is still practiced.
And how about the Central and South American right-wing dictatorships the US not only doesn’t oppose but actively supports?
Funny, no need for the military intervention there.
It’s just Iraq that’s got to be subdued . . . hmmm . . . and that’s the country with all the oil.
Go figure.
Jed,Wouldn’t recommend wasting your entitlement money betting on Rove. Waiting on due process ( which I know is unfamiliar to socialists).
Phillip
The fact that this is even in the news is a testament to the tenacity and desperation of the “Get Bush” wing of the MSM. The FACT that it was impossible for anyone in the Bush administration to break the law by “outing” Joe Wilsons wife as CIA doesnt seem to matter. The FACT that everyone in the admin. has cooperated with the investigation doesnt seem to matter.
The template is cast, and by Clinton, they’re all gonna follow the template. If it makes Bush look bad it’s front page. If it makes Bush look bad it gets buried.
I challenge any of you cool-aid drinkers to explain to me how a law could have been broken here. But check your facts before you spout off.
Iraq has “all the oil”? Being kinda of a drama queen on that one, Galahad.
correction
If it makes Bush look good it gets buried.
Well, it would help if Bush actually did something good so the newspapers could report on it.
The insatiable feeding frenzy the MSM went into during the Clinton-Lewinsky affair has never been equalled in MSM scandal-mongering.It was 24-7 on all the channels.
The result? Clinton left office with the highest poll ratings of any president, including St. Ronnie.
Compared to that, Bush is getting the kid glove treatment.
The result? Poll numbers close to Carter’s.
Heckler, if BushCo. didn’t break the law, then your side has nothing to worry about. I don’t think the prosecutor and the three judges who’ve looked at the case would agree with you so far, however.
You might try wrapping your brain around the simple fact that the Bush Team may just be pretty corrupt. That’s a lot easier to conclude than the fantasy you’re running with . . .
As soon as they belch the misnomer “terrorist” you automatically whose side they on.
Galahad
I know we have nothing to worry about on the Plame business. It simply was not possible for the Bush admin. to break a law here. Thats why it’s so ridiculous that it’s still in the news.
Ed
Open a window.
Rove is still there. So much for “zero-tolerance”
Need a place to jump?
The Zionist have pretty much had their way, but this internet is taking them down. The truth about them is finally gettibg out.
Notice how they attack the messenger.
Ed
What law was broken in the Plame case?
Why don’t you tell us, we’re all ears.
Ed
There was no law broken, at least by the administration. Thats my point. So why is this even in the news?
Because Bush needs to be destroyed before he can get another judge of his choice confirmed.
Ed
Open a window before those meth fumes kill you. We’d all miss you around here.
Criminals are safe in the White House. Zionists cover Zionists.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/29/AR2005092902058.html
Stop trying to insult me, it annoying. Especally coming from such a goofy bastard as you.
Ed
What do they have to cover for?
Ed
Your link is to a story about nothing, what’s the point?
My understanding of the law that Fitzgerald is looking into requires that whoever blows the cover of an undercover CIA operative has to have done so, intentionally. It is like libel and slander laws – you have to demonstrate that the offender 1) knew that what they were doing was improper and 2) they have to have intended to do the injured party harm. This is kind of a high standard and I predict that Rove and others will try to wiggle out of this by saying – “we didn’t know she was under cover”, “I did not really mean to cause her harm”, etc. I think that since Bush is standing by Rove rather than kicking him out the door, that Bush believes Rove can escape the consequences of his actions.
The fact that the whole deal smells like the slimey type of stuff Rove usually does will not be enough to have him exit the Whitehouse.
I’m still waiting on that long list of all the great things George has done!A reasonable request. No sarcasm.Just a list, that’s all.One stinkin’ list.One.List.
I know a lot of people will disagree with my list of good deeds done by George. I have argued my points on another thread.
1. No child left behind.
Speaking of intentions, I do not think Bush meant for NCLB to benefit public school children, but in spite of himself, he did a good thing. Of course, I see the problem with not funding it – but it has required schools to focus on what is important: to quote George himself – “Is our children learning?”
OK, Tracy. JUST one?
Bush has appointed more diversity to top positions than any other President. You of all people should appreciate that! This gives hope to minorities and women who can get past the daily bombardment of entitlement-pushing lib pimps.
He is about to appoint a minority female to the Supreme Court and you libs are going to come out of your sheeps clothing (again).
Now show me yours, Tracy:-)
Are those crickets chirping or just Tracy’s brain working?
Our nation and the Republican Part have been corrupted by evil, filty jews and this is the result.
The Point is to your head….. bastard.
Rove and Libby will walk away from this with no ill effects: Big deal. If Bush has any redeeming features, they are standing up for his people, well, except for maybe Brown, but he was a nitwit anyway.
The really sick wrong done by this whole mess was reporter Judith Miller getting stuck in a hole for doing what? Nothing? That in itself should scare the bejesus out of every American. If that’s not big brother, than what is?Now I know this will not be well met by some people, but is it possible to have a blog without blaming Jews for every transgression known to man? What’s taking place in Washington over the release of Plame’s name has absolutly nothing whatsoever to do with Jews. Sheesh.
Undercover agents do not park inthe CIA parking lot for years. Noone at the CIA has ever claimed she was anything but an analyst.
JM, much as it pains me, I agree. They’ll never touch Rove and Libby for outing Plame. That said, you have to wonder what Fitzgerald is up to. Lying to a grand jury and obstruction are possibilities. Keep in mind, it wasn’t the blow-job that got Clinton in trouble…it was the lie. But still, the power structure being what it is, I fugure they’ll walk.
Miller is a different story….
She is the lowest kind of pond scum way before the Plame issue came up. Considering stories in today’s Post and The Times, why did Miller go to jail in the first place? It’s pretty obvious she was released from her promise of confidentiality before she went to jail. Could it be that she’s just trying to fluff her credentials? It’s not like she spent time in a “real” jail. I suspect her motives.
Joe, the CIA says she was undercover.
What’s that all about, Ian Santiago? Please expand on your amusing theory that Jews have corrupted our government.
XXXThe way I heard it WAS was years ago.Could be wrong. Can’t believe but half what you read.
David–
Ian is the most virulent racist that can be imagined. This guy would kick Halle Berry out of bed because she’s black.
For gosh sakes, don’t encourage him.
In addition to all the scandals listed above–add using taxpayer dollars for covert Republican propaganda, unethical and illegal.
From today’s NYTimes–
WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 – Federal auditors said today that the Bush administration had violated the law by purchasing favorable news coverage of President Bush’s education policies, by making payments to the conservative commentator Armstrong Williams and by hiring a public relations company to analyze media perceptions of the Republican Party.
In a blistering report, the investigators, from the Government Accountability Office, said the administration had disseminated “covert propaganda” inside the United States, in violation of a longstanding, explicit statutory ban.”
Much, much more at source . . .
It just never stops with these guys, does it?
Joe C, the CIA said Plame was covert when she was “outed”. But I guess considering The CIA’s record of shitty reliability ……
Thanks for informing me as I am a newbie to this blog.
I am Jewish, and I was interested in his rather… nazi-style theory.
Oh well. What good would that do?
Ed sez:
OHMYGODAJEW!!!!!!AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
(sorry Ed….couldn’t resist ;)
David, welcome. Pour yourself a beer and make yourself comfortable.
Put simply,
Most corrupt, inept administration in history.
Thank you, xxx.
XXX,Interesting take on Miller. I hadn’t thought of that. People do pretty much anything for their fifteen minutes, nowadays, so I can see it. Could boost her career big time. What peope wont do for the bucks.
David,Welcome aboard! Don’t mind Ian and Ed- we only keep them around because they’re so much fun to bait.Jed
Ian and Ed, did you know that Galahad is a closet, jewish, transgendered homosexual. His best friends are Tracy and CF. They’re best buddies, if you get my drift.
Everybody is pointing fingers and rubbing their hands with glee when the “other” party gets hit with some scandel or anything else that makes them look bad.
But I”m going to give it to you straight. It doesn’t matter the ideology or the political party, but politics is just downright nasty and dirty. People who play this game get burn and trampled on all the time. Even innocent people get caught up in the field. It is the most dangerous sport in the world, and it isn’t going to change.
According to Joe Wisons book Plame and he moved back to the states in 1997. She’s been working a desk job at a CIA office, parking in the parking lot, walking in and out of the building in plain sight. She had not been a foreign agent for over 4 years and depending on who you talked to at CIA she may never have been a “covert agent”.
Gasoline prices are high because Zionist Israel is threatening to nuke Iran.
Iran supplies 60% of the world’s oil. We have to rid ourselves of Zionist Israel or get Bush to shut them down. 3 dollar Jew-gas is wrecking our economy. The rich don’t care but working people { those who are still working } need to have a president who puts Americans and their interests first. Not the greed of Isael.
Come to think of it, Ed. Keep the window shut.
And here I thought Mike had the record for the longest blog with nothing new to say.Arggggggggggg…there’s a zionist under my bed!!!
Oil futures are traded openly on all world markets and only supply and demand can move price.
In your Zeal to protect Israel at all costs, truthful statements destroy your arguement.
When oil supplies are under threat, prices move up. As threats to supplies are removed, prices go down.
If prices were able to be controled any other way, the Bush adminstration would bring the price down and take the credit.
They can’t.
You need to reseach facts before running-off at the mouth, but the truth about oil markets won’t help keep the heat off Israel, so you mouth-off crap instead.
We all understand what your doing.
Although the Bush administration backed-down somewhat about an all-out strike against Iran and oil prices started down, the hurricanes pushed prices back up somewhat.
Oil traders are still biding high prices, as they think the Jews might act alone and strike Iran. If such an attack to place, knocking out Iran’s oil, the price of oil would easily climb to make gasoline cost $50 dollars a gallon.
Demand would push oil prices out-of-sight.
It’s almost ironic that wall the Israelis built would protect the Palestinians against the blast of a nuclear strike on Israel, as the world’s atomic powers would be left with little other choice.
Redhot–
That was the lamest insult I’ve ever read.
If you’re trying to irritate me, at least come up with something that has some wit to it.
That was so utterly puerile, I lack any motivation to even bother responding to it. It’s like watching Jerry Lewis trying to hit Muhammad Ali.
But just to keep in practice and not let my friends down:
Hey RatHod, if you put your brain in a matchbox, it’d rattle like a BB in a boxcar. Seeing you try to verbally hurt somebody is like watching a one-legged man trying to kick down a door. Why don’t you come out and play ball with us, RatHod, we need somebody for homeplate.
Pathetic loser . . .
In the words of the immortal Shakespeare, RedHot, “I earnestly desire that we become better strangers.”
Redhot,That’s just not true! They never show up at the meetings!
Ed,I hate to tell you, but this blog is purely electronic. You’re never going to write enough to use up all the space in it, so quit trying. All that happens is that everybody just scrolls through your posts without reading them.
There are actually laws that were broken by outing Valerie Plame. What should worry the administration is this case that is unfolding to set a precedent.
Lawrence Franklin was indicted under the Espionage Act (specifically 18 U.S.C. 793 (d)) for giving classified information to those not eligible to receive it, including members of the media. He agreed to plead guilty to leaking classfied information to two AIPAC staff members.
AIPAC members are enemies of the United States and should be required to register as agents of a foreign government.
Redhot,
In your only post on this thread, you try to buddy up to a transparently closeted homosexual, namely Ian Santiago. Even he ignores your advances. And then you try to ‘out’ ME? Heeeeeeeeeeeeeee-larious!
In light of your effort to suck up to Ian Santiago the racist wet-dick, my guess is that you like catching rather than pitching–if you get my drift.
Ed,Temper temper!
Jed
Tell us all about $3 Jew-gas.
Jed
Why don’t you tell Americans:
AIPAC collects Top-Secrets from Jewish spies in the Pentagon, passes them to the Israeli Embassy in Washington. Then they go to Israel in a Diplomatic Pouch.
There’s a steady stream of Top-Secrets being smuggled out of the United States to Israel almost daily. Over 30 of Ariel Sharon’s relatives work in the Pentagon and have security clearance.
Why doesn’t Bush put a stop to it?
Jed
You asked about Zionism:
The difference between the Jewish soul … and the soul of all the Gentiles … is greater and deeper than the difference between the soul of a man and the soul of an animal. — Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak HaCohen Kook (1865-1935)
Zionism represents itself as a political movement concerned principally with the establishment of a state in Palestine to be controlled by and for Jews. It began in the late 19th Century and attained its stated objective with the creation in 1948 of the state of Israel by the United Nations (at the insistence of the United States and without the agreement of existing Middle Eastern states). Subsequently Israel doubled the amount of territory it controlled by means of its illegal occupation of the West Bank in the 1967 and 1973 wars.In its current form Zionism seeks to dominate all of Palestine and the Middle East by means of violence and the threat of violence (using weapons manufactured and purchased with billions of dollars of “aid” supplied by the United States) and to maximize its influence in world affairs and in world history, principally by means of control of the government of the USA (primarily by blackmailing its many corrupt politicians), at the expense of the social wellbeing not only of the Palestinians but of the peoples of all lands.
Zionism is not a part of the Jewish religion, but rather is parasitic upon it. Most Zionists are Jews, but not all Jews are Zionists. To condemn Zionism as immoral (racist, vicious and depraved) is not to condemn Judaism.
Traditional Jews Are Not Zionists
Although there are those who refuse to accept the teachings of our Rabbis and will continue to support the Zionist state, there are also many who are totally unaware of the history of Zionism and its contradiction to the beliefs of Torah-True Jews.
Words of the Rabbis Opposing Zionism – Today’s QuoteRabbi Baruch Kaplan
“Today’s wicked Zionists are just like their predecessors, who were responsible for causing terrible suffering in Palestine with their wars with the Arabs, may G-d have mercy. At that time in 1929, the Zionists had a slogan arguing that the Western Wall in Jerusalem was a Jewish “national symbol.” Of course, the Arabs disagreed with this idea, considering that they had control of the location for over 1,100 years. However, the Zionist mobs were yelling that “The Wall is ours!” It’s hard to understand why they felt that way considering they have no connection to the Jewish holy places whatsoever. An argument erupted in the Jewish newspapers about establishing a permanent prayer area for Jews at the Wall. This provoked the Arabs, and the rabbi of Jerusalem at the time, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld begged them to stop and to be appreciative to the Arabs for allowing Jews to pray at the Wall for so many centuries undisturbed. However, the Zionists wanted a permanent setup under their control.”
AIPAC on their web site has designed two new American flags for their takeover.
One is in the shape of a Jewish star with red, white and blue stars and stripes.
The other has our flag seporated into four squares. Two for us and two for them.
Are we willing to let them takeover?
{ Read their propaganda. It’s funniest distortion of the truth you may have ever read }.
Ed,
You are entirely correct that Israel plays a far greater role in American foreign policy than the average citizen can ever imagine.
And you’re right too that the Neo-cons and AIPAC go way back.
But you’re not helping your cause any when you rail on about “Jew gas.” Al Franken is Jewish, so is Noam Chomsky and so was Saul Alinsky. These are people who have done a lot more for social justice in this country than you or I will ever achieve.
The Zionist lobby is too powerful, absolutely. But don’t let the right-wingers bait you into an anti-Jewish backlash.
Also, there are a lot of other forces at work here than just Israel and the Zionist lobby.
Don’t lecture me. The the surprize come like a birthday present.
Israel has hijacked American foriegn policy. And the arrogant inbreds will pay the price.
Americans kick ass.
Have you bought any 3 dollar Jew-gas lately?
No, the $3 gas I bought was all Bush!
Ed,Calm down! You’re gonna bust a gut!
Why do you hate American who support you? Why not a least tell the truth? Why lie? Do you hate working Ameicans that much?
Why do you hate Americans who support you so much? Why not a least tell the truth? Do you hate working Americans that much?
Bush can’t control oil markets but trouble-making Israel does.
Why lie?
$3 Jew-gas is $3 Jew-gas and it will cost more unless the Zionist are defeated. To Jews the Zionists are the new Zazis.
$3 Jew-gas is $3 Jew-gas and it will cost more unless the Zionist are defeated. To Jews the Zionists are the new Nazis.
3 Jew-gas is $3 Jew-gas and it will cost more unless the Zionist are defeated. To Jews the Zionists are the new azis.
Fly your AIPAC Jewish/American flag. Support the coming $5 dollar Jew-gas.
Tell Sharon if he doesn’t stop eating he will bust a gut……Suck-up.
Iraq.
We need to stop this Israeli-driven expansion and stop bringing our soldiers home in coffins or with limbs blown-off. That number of dead and maimed has reached over 22,000 and increases daily.
Bush gave Ariel Sharon an old map of “Greater Israel” which stretches all the way from the Nile River in Egypt to the Euphrates River in Iraq.
Bush is trying to help Sharon with that expansion and that is why we are in Iraq now. The evangelicals are on board because their religious beliefs are being exploited. Other Christian Churches are divesting investments out of Israel because they know what the secular Zionists are up to.
There was no legitimate reason to pull troops out of Afghanistan without first securing that country and diverting them into Iraq. That’s why all those manufactured lies were bandied about. Establishing a permanent presence in Iraq for Israeli expansion is why we are there. None of the other phony reasons given are true. I think that all of you know that.
Establishing a Greater Israel will cost the United States trillion in taxpayer money and monies borrowed against our Treasury. That will bankrupt this nation. Is that something Americans will knowingly want to do? Of course not and that’s why it’s shrouded in secrecy.
Israel has cost the United States $1.7 trillion since 1973.
On Channel 3 in Israel, Bush threatened to use tactical nuclear weapons against Iran and because Iran supplies 60% of the world oil, the price of crude spiked to over $70 a barrel.
Pakistan threatened to come to Iran’s aid and the price of crude oil dropped somewhat. This is a very dangerous game Bush is playing, by allowing Israel to push him into it.
Bush tells the American People one thing and tells the Israelis another.
The time has come to stop this charade and let the truth be known.
This so-called war in Iraq needs to stop now.
We have needs right here in America.
Somebody didn’t take their meds today.
Seniors can’t afford their meds because the jews take money needed for medicare.
Nuke Israel and everything gets better in America.
Gas goes back to one dollar and soldiers stop being killed.
XXX, as a Zionist would that spoil all your fun?
Ed is definitely an Arab jihadist monkey. Eat your camel, Ed.
No, Ed has a brain in his head, unlike you. $3jewgas.com
BTW, I repeatedly asked for a LIST, not just a couple of items. To this point I’ve gotten three items. And at least two of those are questionable, as far as being “good”. Anyway, three items for five years in office. Quite a record, Huh?
Tracy
I said that Bush chops wood. If you count every log, you’ll get there.
Israel wants to control the world’s oil supply. Won’t that be just great? $3dollar Jew-Gas will be cheap compared to what they have in mind.
Nuke them and be done with it.
“XXX, as a Zionist would that spoil all your fun?”Not really, Ed. As you may recall, I mentioned nuking that whole part of the world a while back. That would be a really mean thing to do, but it would solve a whole lot of problems. But I’m another one of those Redneck Liberals.
I like this guy, Bilge,
My main man!
BWAhahahajahahahahajhahahahahajhahahahajhahahahaha
Ed,What’s with the haj stuff?
