An Opinion Line contributor wondered, “Is it just me, or did anyone else notice the uncanny resemblance between Karen Hughes, Bush’s adviser, and our own state Rep. Brenda Landwehr, R-Wichita, on the Opinion pages of Wednesday’s paper? Either they were separated at birth, or conservative Republican women are required to have the same haircut.”

Melissa,Here’s a quote from another blog here on the WE…From “soulfyre”…
“I participated briefly in blogging here, but I see that the Wichita Eagle is not apparently trying to generate fruitful discussion, but controversy for the sake of interest. Each blog is started with a controversial, short “editorial”, designed to bring out the worst in everyone. Frankly, given the level of this discussion (which is generating a great deal of heat, much name-calling barely worthy of grade-school brats, and little light), I’m surprised that it hasn’t been concluded. Then again, if the only purpose is to generate controversy and a sort of morbid interest, I guess the Eagle has succeeded.
For some reason, I thought (or hoped) that the editorial board, as journalists, would be above that sort of thing. But I guess allo they need to do is ring the bell, and watch us salivate and attack one another like pit bulls. I guess it’s great entertainment, but it seems that no one truly wishes to discuss when its so much more fun to simply insult one another. Maybe THAT’S why the evacuees don’t want to move here. They are at a point in their lives when they need solutions, not hot air.”
Of COURSE all Republican women are required to have the same haircut. We’re all Nazi’s, don’t you read this board? Pay attention for crying out loud!
Jiminy,
All Nazis didn’t have the same haircut. Hitler preferred a side part, while Himmler brushed his hair straight back and used pomade.
Now, facial hair–THAT’S a different story. Moustaches are fascist, beards are communist.
I am not a Republican any longer but Kathy Harris has nice hair.
My God CF! That means I’m a fascist commie! And all this time I thought I was a Socialist.
In North Korea the nutball dictator actually posted a listing of approved hairstyles.
I wonder if these ladies’ hairdressers have inspected them yet for any signs of domestic abuse?
anybody else notice that Rhonda is the only one not smiling in her photo.
angry, angry woman.
I don’t think we should direct our comments at the editors.
They just throw out stuff they think is going to be interesting.
Noted, Galahad. But I’ll address them when they put their opinions in the story. Don’t blame them for that, just would like a little talk back. Of course, I’ll talk to posters as well.
I’m bald. I guess that makes me a neutered nazi, with ex-marxist tendencies. In other words, I drive backwards with my tail lights off.
I wonder what the liberal hair style is?
Joe, surely you know some liberals. How do they wear their hair? I wear a burr and my GF wears her hair past her shoulders. She’s registered as a Democrat and I’m regestered as Unafilliated. Never thought to ask people at the barbershop what their affiliation is, lol.
Von! We ask hear on this blog. ;)
I guess it makes us a real strange bunch.
Maybe we’re looking at the wrong haircut. A good female Republican would have her Bush trimmed properly.
WaHa! Joe!
Brian, you’re baaaaad! LOL
In addition to the conformist hair style, I’ve also noticed that most conservative women are quite unattractive. They always have a mean look about them as well. That or they look somewhat puppy-eyed, especially when standing next to a conservative man; in fact that is the only time when you can tell a conservative woman is actaully female!
You know that “noble cause” that Bush is always talking about? The one worth fighting and dying for?
Well, apparently it’s not noble enough for Karen Hughes’s college boy son.
That seems to be another big similarity top Republican women have. None of them are willing to put their child’s life on the line for Bush’s “noble cause.”
Fever swamp! Alligators. Slime. Watch where you step.
Are there spiders in fever swamp?
Pookie doesn’t like spiders AT ALL!!!!!
Puny (Anon)–
Good to see that you haven’t lost you ability to insult. When argument fails you, and it always does, you have that to fall back on.
Now why don’t you go fall back full length on a set of carpenter’s tools?
And you know why we call you Puny, don’t you, Puny?
Yeah, I knew you knew . . .
There it is — galahad’s self-defeating immaturity endlessly paraded for all to see.
Some people are the equivalent of blog stalkers, following others from post to post waiting to strike.
Right. And Galahad is the worst blog stalker of all. Now we see that TRACY and Galahad are the same person, too.
