It’s hard to keep a bad star down

Four out of five Americans say they think too many reality TV shows are on the air, according to an AP-TV Guide poll. And 82 percent said the shows are either “totally made up” or “mostly distorted.” But until millions of viewers stop tuning in to “Survivor” and “American Idol,” the networks are sure to keep pulling has-been stars like Bobby Brown out of obscurity and trying to force them into our living rooms.

I still cannot believe people watch this tripe. All those without a life please sit down and tune in. Obviously its much better to waste your time in front of a computer…at least you’re likely to learn something new.

I have never seen one-minute of Survivor nor American Idol. Although I have to admit that there are a few that I enjoyed, I guess gulity pleasures. The Apprentice, Rock Star INXS, and the Biggest Loser. Although I did not know that a 2nd season of Biggest Loser was already underway until yesterday.

It’s the trend in TV these days. Who knows how long it will last. It’s cheaper for TV producers to pay reality “stars” than it is to pay “real stars”.

There is the Fox Reality channel on Digital cable if you’re obsessed with that type of TV.

Of course they are absurd..like the claims of “danger” and “risk” on survivor. Yep…and the danger is shared by the union electricians, sound men, camera operators, etc., and all the others you never see? Yep, they are in “danger” all right.. danger that the catering truck might run out of Perrier… Have you ever seen a “location shoot” for movies or television? The support staff behind the camera is usually many times larger than the acting staff–and they need food, sleeping quarters, etc.

Television has a history of appealing to the lowest common denominator of the American public. The sad part is how low that denominator is…
