While New Orleans residents were suffering and dying in the Superdome and convention center, the National Guard took Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., to his house and waited for about an hour while he gathered personal belongings, ABC News reported. Then after the 5-ton military truck got stuck in Jefferson’s yard and a helicopter spent 45 minutes deciding whether to do an air rescue, a second truck had to come to get the congressman and his belongings.

I saw this on the news last night including an interview with Rep. Jefferson. This guy has some brass! He’s already under investigation. I found it interesting when they tried to explain over 50 grand kept in his fridge.
Politics in Louisiana must be fun!Kind of gives a whole new meaning to the term “cold cash”.
All in the name of national security I am sure.
Now you all get to see the difference between Democrats and Republicans.
Here’s a sleaze bag that’s also a Democrat. Do we liberals cry and moan about “oh, it’d be worse under the Republicans.”
No, we say, put the screws to him.
No excuses–throw the bum out.
Someone needs to lose his seat in congress.

Is there a plaque of this quote in the Clinton Library? Nah, didn’t think so. Chortle.
…..Yaaaaawwwwnnnnn…..
Anon, are you sleepy? Pookie finds a nice nap in front of the computer in the afternoon helps.
It’s best not to let your nose rest on the “J” too long. Try deleting 15 minutes of “J”.
Clinton, Jimmie?
Clinton had a sleazy affair. That was bad. That was wrong.
It wasn’t illegal, and it didn’t compromise people’s lives, like this stunt did.
Fooling around with someone other than your wife is in no way equivalent to starting an illegal and unjustified war in Iraq in which almost 1900 American soldiers have been killed.
I wouldn’t go in that direction if I were you . . .
My own feeling is that Clinton should have resigned over the scandal.
If he had, Al Gore would be president right now, IMHO.
But as bad as Clinton was, Bush remains unquestionably America’s WORST. PRESIDENT. EVER.
How confusing this has become. One day everyone is yelling about how the government needs to get in there and help these people. Now you want to lynch someone they actually did help.
An affair isn’t illegal. Obstructing justice and lying before a federal judge, is. Can Bubba still practice law with his law license? Nope…that’s what happens when you break the law. I was just pointing out that you’re pious claims to fair-mindedness are, well, crap.
Nice try. Next!
What’s “pious” about saying that Clinton screwed up and he should have resigned?
You can’t even bring yourself to say that Bush screwed up ever. You people are still arguing that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq, which even the President’s handpicked team conceded hasn’t happened and will never happen because THEY WEREN’T there.
I’m not defending Clinton. He should have stepped down.
But you do nothing BUT defend Bush, even when his shortcomings are manifest and copious.
And since you’ve judged Clinton so harshly for “obstructing justice,” you will judge Bush by the same standard when the probe into the Plame affair shows he did the same thing, right?
The vast majority of black elected officials are corrupt and behave like african dictators! Negros do not have the intellectual or maoral capacity to be in positions of authority!
Get a grip, Ian, all elected officials act that way! Anyone who would run for office doesn’t have the intellectual or moral capacity to be in positions of authority. The voters require that! Why do you think all those good-old-boy crackers down south have held on to their jobs for so long?
Ian, the Maoris are in the Pacific. Their maoral capacity is actually unchallenged, even by Spanish-Moorish half bloods..
Get a rope.
