Words to unite by

Maybe they’re just two old political enemies stealthily repositioning themselves for a presidential face-off in 2008. But it’s hard not to be impressed by the good will newly enveloping Newt Gingrich and Hillary Clinton, who are working together toward finding a cure for the health care system, probably one that would streamline paperwork, ease information sharing and require individuals to take more responsibility for their care. “One of the problems in Washington is that there are those who want to avoid facts because it contradicts their ideology,” she said. “My hope, my sense, is that we are at the end of a 40-year cycle of bitterness,” he said. If these two can bond, surely any partisan extremist can be rehabilitated.

I hope so. But your average neo-con and neo-libs are pretty much locked into their ideology.

Maybe they can set the example for everyone. We can choose to be either part of the problem or part of the solution.

What we really need is a Democrat that actually stands for something and will offer an alternative to the “greed is my God” anyone in my way is an “enemy” attitude of the Republicans.

What we need is a president for all the people. At the rate we’re going, we’re headed for another civil war.

Gee, don’t I recall Hilary trying to do something about our health care system when Bill was in office? It would have been nice if she’d been allowed to take it to task then, but no, too many folks had a hissy-fit about a strong first lady who had a brain. Scared the devil out of ‘em. They should be happy now. The current first lady isn’t any sort of a threat at all.

Nola, I believe they called it “Hillarycare”. The Repugs tore her to pieces for being a compasionate human. Funny thing about conservatives…strong intelligent women scare them to death (you’re right).

Sadly, they just can’t imagine what they’re missing!

    Hammer,

Not for being a commpasionate human, but a socialist nitwit.

Anything that would provide healthcare for poor people is bad, right Nathan? Some Christian you are.

So we’re to presume that Nathan was privy to Hilary’s plan back then and determined that it reeked of socialism? Why don’t I think so? Nitwit would better describe the current resident of the White House, methinks, who, by the way, hasn’t done anything positive for the poor in any fashion.

    Hammer,

    What is more Christian:

My individual participation in helping those in need through my chruch body and through individual actions, helping to spread the Gospel to others so they can too…

    Or

My forcing people to pay for others health care with my socialist plan enacted by the government…

Nathan, I don’t CARE which YOU think is more Christian. You don’t have any problem with FORCING people who don’t believe in killing for no reason to pay for an un-just war. You don’t have any problem with FORCING people to pay for Bush’s silly Mars program, even if they think there’s more pressing problems here on the planet.

Nathan, I think that in the richest, greatest nation on this planet, healthcare is a RIGHT!

How dare you treat it as a privelige?

We all pay for the health care of others anyway. We just do it in the most damaging way possible. Roughly 15% of the cost of a new GM car goes to pay for employee and retiree healthcare. What do you suppose that does to GM’s competitive stance worldwide? That gives forigen automakers a tidy advantage, considering their employees health care is government sponsored. Toyota just chose to build an auto plant in Ontario instead of the US. Part of the reason was Canada’s healthcare delivery system. Conservatives hammer socialized medicine, but the numbers don’t back it up. Why do we have the most expensive healthcare costs in the world, and one of the highest infant mortality rates?

Nathan, if you donate through your church, that’s wonderful, but I still think all Americans should have access to healthcare, and not just through the emergency room (an expensive way to deliver healthcare).

Why do you have such a problem with looking out for the good of all?
