Still waiting for Jerry . . .

Will Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Hays, run for governor against Kathleen Sebelius? We’re still waiting for his announcement. The school funding mess might be giving him pause. Or has he gone on a vision quest?

I sure hope Jerry runs because he’ll beat Kathleen like a drum. But being decisive is never going to be a Moran hallmark.

Why would Jerry want to be the Gov. of a state that will face a budget shortfall of over a half billion in the fiscal year he would take office? The slight of hand, smoke and mirrors budget fixes of the last four years have come back to haunt the legislature and the Gov.

Without true revenue increases, cutting tax breaks for the wealthy, or getting rid of the ultra conservatives who are driving our best and brightest away, we will be in a budget crunch for quite some time.

By ultra conservatives I am referring to those who believe that anyone who has a different sexual, political, or religious preferences than theirs should have a Constitutional amendment passed to discriminate against them, be marginalized as radical, or crowded out of society altogether.

No Moran please. We don’t need more of the same. And moving from the federal governemnt (we know how good it works) to the state would just bring more “good ideas” to goverment. It’s time for new blood in Topeka all the way around. However, given the way the majority acts in Kansas (i.e. elect the same people over and over and expect a different result) I’m not holding my breath.
