The manufacturer of the video game “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” deserves to get capped for hiding sexually explicit scenes that could be unlocked with a code. But some of the hysterics by parents and members of Congress sound like Claude Rains in “Casablanca” — “I’m shocked! Shocked!” — given the violence and “hos” in the regular game.
As Lester Haines wrote in The Register, an online source for IT news, about the sex-free version of “GTA”: “Concerned parents can rest assured that after shooting up drug dealers with a semi-automatic rifle, their wide-eyed and innocent teen gamer will in future have to wind down with warm milk and cookies rather than an explosive climax with his bitch.”

Hah. Isn’t it funny that people are more afraid of sex than violence? I’ve played GTA, and I love it. I blow up rival gang members and pick up skanky ho’s. But I’m 21 years old. This stuff isn’t meant for 13-14 year olds. It’s VIOLENT.But all that stuff isn’t a big deal. But put a hidden sex scene (no genitalia shown) in there and crap hits the fan!I’d also add that in order to unlock the scene, you need to hack into the game and enter the right code. If a kid can do this, he’s certainly smart enough to google “porn” and get a real eyeful.
The game is rated M for mature. That is just like an R rating in movies. Children under 17 should not be playing it. I have to laugh at that woman who bought it for her 14 yr kid, and is now wanting to sue the publisher. Do you sue Paramount if they show boobs in an R rate movie?
