‘Mini-Me’-a culpa due?

During Tuesday’s Wichita City Council workshop on arts funding, Mayor Carlos Mayans referred to his intern as “Mini-Me.” It’s one thing for an editorial cartoonist to characterize Mayans’ assistant that way, as The Eagle’s Richard Crowson did last summer when the mayor persuaded the council to approve the hire. But is that any way for a mayor, even one known for his colorful rhetoric, to refer to his aide?

Mayans ego is, well, not mini.

Is the aide a dwarf? No? Then don’t be so thin-skinned. It wasn’t an offensive comment.

I’m sure if Myans used the phrase in public it’s been said as a joke in private. Get over it. It’s a joke and as long as the intern is not offended by it then it’s not a problem.

    Rhonda,

Why dont you try to practice some of your journalist skills and talk to “mini-me” and see what he thinks?

I guess that would involve actual journalism and reporting on your part.

It was probably some dumb joke they shared, nothing malicious. Let’s not get all hysterical about it! Can we get back to real news, please?

Heh. I just noticed that on this particular blog entry, both the blog-frequenting liberals and conservatives are on the same page. I knew we could all find common ground!

    Yes Tara C,

My main function was to come here and pick on the editorial staff at the Eagle, but I kind of get distracted in discussions with everyone else too…

I’m just not a big fan of Mayans! The sooner he gets out of office, the better Wichita will be.

Of course, that assumes that someday, Wichita, will be better off.

Mayans is trying to convince us, that he’s more in tune to Wichita’s needs , than Knight was. But then, he’s never accountable for anything that happened, ptior to coming on board. Don’t think he’s a leader; don’t think he conveys leadership to the rest of the Council. Think he’s only in it, for himself!

As fot the mini-me nickname, so what, who cares!

It is a safe bet that no one will call you “mini-me”, Rhonda. It’s not something that’s likely to spread. So don’t get all tangled up in your victimist workbook over it. Making an issue of this is really lame.
