The scenes of Sept. 11 seemed out of place on our television sets, but there they were, being brought into our homes by network anchormen. The familiar news logos in the corners of our screens reminded us that this was, in fact, real.
And now it seems almost as if Sept. 11 should forever remain on television screens. To translate it to a high-dollar film — to make it into the movie that it wasn’t — seems to rob the day of its reality. The story belongs to the people who lived it and those who died. Their names should be attached to it, not Oliver Stone’s.

Agreed.
Ditto
Right on Cooley!
Knowing how Oliver Stone likes to twist things around, people will believe his version instead of the actual real-life event of 9/11.
He makes movies, that’s what he does. “It’s no sin for a man to labor in his profession.”
Just imagine if some glory hound came out with a movie about Jesus and called it “The Passion of the Christ” or something.
Wouldn’t it be terrible to “translate it to a high-dollar film — to make it into the movie that it wasn’t — and rob the day of the reality of faith and belief. The story belongs to the people who read the Biblical version. Their names should be attached to it, not some movie maker’s.”
Oops . . .
And another thing, where do you come off, Hank, telling me that I’m “anti-Christian.”
I go to church a lot. Not every Sunday, but on a regular basis.
Did I miss something?
Where did Hank say anything in this particular blog topic about anyone being anti-Christian?
Mistertwister,
You did not like The Pasion of the Christ?
It seemed to be something that can be a powerful tool to show others what price Jesus paid for them.
What were the negatives?
Mister Twister,
Going to church a lot, or every Sunday, or 10 times a week does not make you a Christian.
Twister, Nathan.I don’t think we’re going to hear much from Hank for a while. And why don’t we refer to him by his real name, “Henry”"Henry” made a smart remark about Twister’s church attendance on another thread.Pretty slimy coming from a guy that has no integrity. Isn’t that right, “Henry”?
Hammer,
Pretend for a moment that not everyone is sitting at their computer 24 hours a day.
If we have not heard from him in a few days then perhaps you can start your foaming at the mouth…
Nathan–
When you said that you “signed up” for military service, was that a lie?
And if it were, why should anyone listen to anything you say?
*****
Remember when Clinton had his affair and Limbaugh said this will influence kids to go have sex?
So since Bush continually lies and breaks his word hourly, Nathan apparently believes it gives him the right to lie to us.
If this blog had an “ignore” button, Nathan, I’d put you on it.
For the record, I have no interest in seeing “The Passion of Christ” or any other movie about the life of Jesus.
I read the book . . . the movie can never be as good as the book.
Mistertwister,
You have yet to prove I lied about anything.
I am a Marine. I have served for almost 8 years. How do you prove that I am a liar?
Why are you trying so hard to tarnish the reputation of a fellow Christian?
Is that what Christ would do?
Nathan–Where are you serving? Why did you say that you were “signing up” when you already were a Marine? What division? What unit? Who’s your CO?
I’m not trying to tarnish your reputation. I’m trying to get at the truth.
When did I say I was “signing up?”
I will tell you where I have served, but not currently nor will I give you any names.
If you want that info then I will meet you for lunch. I am not going to post that kind of stuff on the internet.
I served with 2nd Amphibious Assualt Battalion, 2nd Marine Division in Delta Company.
Okay, Nathan, that checks out. I could be wrong.
