To be a judge in Kansas does require a minimum qualification standard. I have to double check, but you have to be a practicing lawyer in the State and must have been for at least 7 years. I'm not sure they would care about being accused of hypocrisy - the religious right wing of the Republican party has proven time and again that they don't care about being logical, rational, or telling the truth.
