A tragic auto accident this week illustrated in stark terms the value of seat belts.
Ron and Sandy Fuller, who according to friends didn’t like to wear seat belts, were killed Wednesday when their van flipped near Hutchinson.
Their 8-year-old son, Christian, who was wearing his seat belt, survived the accident.
Buckle up.

The seatbelt laws will make no sense to me until they are made to protect the lives of our children….on the school buses that transport so many of them daily. What sort of logic is it to ignore this threat while applying the law to private vehicle carriers?
Looking at the tragic loss that young Christian must face, the “buckle-up” law makes a lot of sense. I submit that the law as it reads is not complete, however it is a start. Until the bus manufacturers build a safer bus, are seat belts really going to do any good?
I don’t know, but the laws apply to private vehicles that aren’t exactly what you would call safe, either. I can’t quite distinguish between the damage that might be done if a child is thrown from the back of the bus to the front in a collision, or out of a window and compare it to what might happen if he/she is confined in the seat of an “unsafe” bus.
What really scares me is that those two morons reproduced. They were probably depending on God to save them. Ooops!
