Here’s hoping that Saturday’s vote — in which Machinists union members overwhelmingly accepted a contract offer from Mid-Western Aircraft Systems — marks the beginning of a profitable partnership. This community needs the former Boeing Wichita plant to succeed and grow.

The machinist also must know that it is a different company and not just Boeing with another name. It’s going to be leaner, meaner, and less bureaucratic. The reduce 180 or so job descriptions down to 11. Nobody will be job specific anymore. They will be working like people do in small companies and have mulitple job task to complete.
MWAS also wants performace of profitablity and the senority system gone. It’s going to be a great company. I welcome MWAS in Wichita.
I welcome MWAS with open arms. The change was needed for the plant to succeed in the future. Unfortunately, with the same management in place, Mr. Wright is in for a rude awakening. The same ones who let the “buddy system” become so out of hand will continue that trend. Good luck Mr. Wright.
