No accountability for his sex crimes

Obviously, Dennis Rader will never get out of prison. Still, it doesn’t seem right that his criminal record won’t account for the sexual offenses of which he’s guilty, or for his vicious attack on Kevin Bright, who survived. The statute of limitations had expired on all of his crimes save murder. To its credit, the Legislature recently extended the statute of limitations on most felonies and misdemeanors to five years, from what had been two years. But is that really long enough, given the high-tech tools that investigators now have?

Judge Waller can only sentence Rader for the crimes that were charged, and guilty pleas accepted. We have heard alot about “what is wrong with Kansas” but I think everyone agrees that Judge Waller is something very strong, fair and good about Kansas and Wichita. The entire country saw this community through his questions and demeanor on national TV.

Nothing wrong with Waller. What I find bassackwards as far as the statute of limitations go, is there are 2 crimes that have no statute of limitations. The first of course is murder, a class A felony. The second, is DUI. A misdemeanor. Does anybody else find this oh so Kansas-esque? Typical backwards hick State stuff. Yeehaw!

3 months ago, my son spent the night in the Sedgwick Co Jail because he didn’t pay a ticket he recieved 13 yrs ago for playing basketball in the park after curfew. Add that to murder and drunk driving for the crimes that have no statute of limitations!
