When it comes to the origins of the Earth, Connie Morris favors giving students all kinds of information — even theories that aren’t supported by facts or the scientific community — and letting them decide what they believe.
But when it comes to sex education, Morris seems uncertain that students can handle even the scientifically proven facts.
“I just still feel like you’re leading people to believe that if you don’t get pregnant or diseased, that it’s not risky,” Morris said in this Eagle story.
If Morris thinks students are qualified to sift through all the information and misinformation about the origins of the Earth, why are they suddenly unqualified to determine what’s risky when presented the facts about sex?

Let’s face it, Connie believes in the right to make choices only as long as she gets to make them for you! God, of course, told her that she has the right to tell everybody else what to believe, according to her. Democracy? No problem, as long as everybody accepts her ultimate authority in all matters. After all, He gave her that seat on the board, not the people! She’s just one more control freak in a long line of them. Maybe the proper hell for her would be a room full of bullies, each trying to control the rest, so let’s elect her to the legislature!
Right, Connie. I have a better idea. Let’s just shut up about sex in the schools so these kids can learn from MTV and their peers. Then, when they’re 14 and pregnant, let’s take away the option of abortion and force them to drop out of school and work to pay for their ill-informed decision. Then, push for ways to cut this girl and her kid’s health care and food stamps and other welfare, because they should’ve known better. Personal responsibility, you know.
That stupid 14 year old should have known better, right? Oh, the parents should have taught her the right way to live? Well, they didn’t. I guess that means she should pay for that for the rest of her life.
Or we could nip this in the bud and say “Sex is a huge physical and emotional responsibility. The best decision you can make is to wait until marriage. If you do decide to have sex, use protection. Here’s some examples.”
Said 14 year old girl now graduates, goes to college and pays taxes.
Of course, that would alienate your conservative base, and that’s so much worse than miseducating our children.
You should be ashamed.
Connie Morris is just reminding us that consistency is the hobgloblin of the mediorce.
I, on the other hand, would be so happy if she would strive to be a mediorce public official. I am not holding my breath.
The link in the story is broken.
