How dare he be bipartisan!

"I am guilty. I have been in the governor’s office. I have been visiting with Democrats. I have been visiting with senators."
— Rep. Ward Loyd, R-Garden City, outlining the bipartisan school spending proposal to the GOP caucus. Who does this guy think he is, trying to find a bipartisan solution?

I believe he was addressing his constituents. He wants to be re-elected, so he has to appoligize to the people that he actually spoke to a Democrat.

It looks pretty sad that partisan politics has really taken hold of policy decisions of this state.

At least one senator is willing to do his job. If I remember right Loyd was just re-elected to the senate last year. As one of his constituents I am glad to see him working to solve the problem and reaching across the isle.

Actually, Loyd is a Representative, not a Senator.

jbrown: Loyd is a Rep not a Senator.

Also…he was addressing the Republican caucus so no constituents were present. (Joe)

Finally, how very noble of him to draw attention to himself for visiting with Senators and Democrats. Kudos on that.

And finally a pat on the back to him from me for going to a meeting where he was invited. I wonder if Doug Mays would have gone. I guess we’ll never know since Sebelius didn’t invite any conservatives to come and discuss school finance. I’m so happy she and everyone else in Topeka is finding a bipartisan way to fix this mess we’re in through select invitations. Bravo.

They should elect him the next Speaker for actually trying to solve problems instead of acting like an idiot – been there

Look for a shift in power in House now that the moderate Republicans have found out that they can work with the Democrats. Speaker Mays has handed them the reins of leadership when he over played his hand on school finance and the courts.
