Here’s how to steal a car

“I wonder if the attorney general has a memo on how to avoid going to jail for car theft,” attorney Alan Rupe told the Lawrence Journal-World in response to Phill Kline’s memo to legislators that provided options on how to deal with the state Supreme Court’s order on school finance.
Rupe argued that it was inappropriate of Kline to coach legislators in such a way. What do you think? Click below to add your comments.

Tell me again about the separation of powers, is AG part of the Legislature, or of the Executive? I thought he’s part of the executive branch, the enforcer of law. By advising the Legislatures on how to counter the court order, wouldn’t he be overstepping his boundary as well—something he’s used to do anyway? If he’s legislative, doesn’t that create conflict of interests, making laws and enforcing them as well, effectively making him a de-facto despot? But, if he’s neither legislative nor executive, then wouldn’t he be just a parasite, and can be surgically amputated?

Gee, the Eagle chastises Kline for being silent on this whole issue (just scroll down on this blog). Then when he speaks up….he gets chastised again. Think Phill gets fair and balanced coverage or does he get whacked no matter what he does? You make the call.

Since the Kansas Supreme Court wants to pretend it’s the legislature, then the AG has the authority and duty to help the Real Legislature find a way through the crisis created by the over-reaching court.

Rupe’s ad hominem bloviating is pure, self-serving demagoguery. Real solutions don’t need that nonsense. Why give him any attention? He’s nothing but a shill for the school tax industry.
