The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory stretching from mid-Wednesday morning until 8 p.m. today for more than 25 counties in central and northern Kansas.
Wichita is included in the advisory area. Wind gusts could reach 45 miles an hour, with sustained winds out of the south at up to 35 miles an hour during the advisory period.
Driving will be difficult at times, especially on east-west routes.
Counties included in the advisory are Ellis, Ness, Rush, Hodgeman, Pawnee, Stafford, Gray, Ford, Edwards, Kiowa, Pratt, Meade, Clark, Comanche, Barber, Russell, Lincoln, Barton, Ellsworth, Saline, Rice, McPherson, Marion, Reno, Harvey, Kingman and Sedgwick.
