Forecast models suggest snowy weekend for Wichita

If you need snow to get into the holiday spirit, Old Man Winter appears ready to oblige the Wichita area.

Forecast models indicate measurable snowfall is likely to move into the Great Plains this weekend, with some areas receiving several inches of snow and others a hearty rainfall.

National Weather Service meteorologists say early indications suggest 2 to 4 inches of snow is possible in Wichita Saturday night into Sunday, though it’s too early yet to offer meaningful snowfall amount forecasts. Much will depend on how soon temperatures drop below freezing and allow rain to transition over to snow, said Vanessa Pearce, a meteorologist with the weather service’s Wichita branch.
