There’s a slight chance of rain early and late in the Wichita area today, forecasters say.
Highs could again reach the low 60s, with south winds in the teens and gusting to more than 25 miles an hour. Thunderstorms are possible early Thursday morning ahead of the cold front pushing through Kansas, with lows in the mid-40s and winds easing to the low teens.
Thursday’s high will come early in the morning, forecasters say, before temperatures begin a gradual descent as the front moves through the metropolitan area. Thunderstorms are possible in the morning, then rain in the afternoon and evening.
Winds will be out of the east, forecasters say, with steady breezes in the teens and gusts approaching 30 miles an hour. Rain could switch over to a wintry mix, including freezing rain, early Friday morning. Sleet and snow flurries are possible later in the day, when highs are only expected to reach the mid-30s.
