The slow warmup after the coldest spell of the season continues Thursday for the Wichita area.
Highs are projected to reach the mid-50s under sunny skies, forecasters say. South winds will ease to the low teens, with gusts touching 20 miles an hour at times.
Overnight lows will dip to the low 30s, near freezing, with a few clouds moving in as the southerly winds quiet down to the single digits.
Friday could see temperatures top 60, forecasters say, as a few more clouds filter into the region later in the day. Southerly winds will pick up again, steady in the upper teens with gusts approaching 30 miles an hour.
A slight chance of rain arrives early Saturday and persists through the day, forecasters say, with highs jumping to the upper 60s. Sunday is expected to offer another dose of 60s.
After the harsh taste of winter early this week, that’s welcome news.
