Snow collecting in NW Kansas, flurries likely in central Kansas

Wichita had a trace of snow fall among periods of heavy rain, said Vanessa Pearce, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. It wasn’t enough to qualify as “measurable snow,” meaning Oct. 22, 1996, retains the record for earliest snowfall in the city’s history.
