Heavy rain is expected in the Wichita metropolitan area as dawn arrives, making the morning commute a challenge, forecasters say.
Rain is likely later in the day as well, with highs in the low 80s and gusty easterly winds approaching 25 miles an hour.
Lows will slip into the upper 60s, with showers and thunderstorms continuing into Friday morning, forecasters say. Highs Friday will top out in the low 80s. Northeast winds will be in the teens, gusting at times into the low 20s.
The weekend delivers a break from the rain, forecasters say, with highs in the 80s and a mix of clouds with the sunshine.
