Wichita weather: Sunny day, then the next round of showers arrives

A warm, sunny day is on tap for the Wichita area today before the next round of showers and thunderstorms moves in, forecasters say.

Highs will approach 90, with light southerly winds occasionally reaching double digits. Showers become possible after midnight, forecasters say, with south winds and partly cloudy skies.

Friday brings a better chance of showers, with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the low 90s. South winds will persist at about 10 miles an hour. Those chances for rain will persist through the weekend and well into next week, forecasters say.
