The tornado that damaged more than two dozen homes, businesses and outbuildings on the west edge of Marysville on Monday night has been rated an EF-2 by the National Weather Service.
No deaths or injuries were reported. The tornado touched down at 9:33 p.m. and grew to a width of 150 yards, according to a weather service survey team. Winds reached a maximum speed of 130 miles an hour.
The tornado was on the ground for about four miles before lifting at 9:43 p.m. Several livestock were killed by the tornado, according to the Kansas Division of Emergency Management.
Another tornado on Monday night struck Smith County roughly three miles north and one mile east of Lebanon. Two homes were destroyed. Three homes in Jewell County were also damaged by the tornado.
