A few lingering thunderstorms – with small hail – remain possible in the Wichita metropolitan area Thursday morning, forecasters say.
The storms could impact the morning commute, so drivers will want to be alert and cautious during rainy spells. Highs are expected to climb into the low 70s under cloudy skies in the Wichita area. Winds will be light and variable early in the day and intensify into the teens later in the afternoon. Gusts could reach the mid-20s.
Chances for showers and thunderstorms will linger through the evening and into the overnight hours, forecasters say, with lows dipping only into the mid-50s. Winds out of the north will occasionally climb into the teens.
Friday offers a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 60s. The weekend looks dry, forecasters say, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. That’s still 5 to 10 degrees below normal for this time of year.
