Highs should reach the upper 60s under cloudy skies, with south-southeast winds in the teens and gusts approaching 30 miles an hour. Much colder air arrives overnight, changing precipitation over to freezing rain and sleet, forecasters say. Lows will fall all the way to the mid-30s. Winds will shift to the north and strengthen to steady breezes in the low 20s, with gusts into the low 30s.
Tuesday is expected to bring rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet to the Wichita area in the morning, forecasters say. The precipitation should change to rain by early afternoon, with temperatures topping out in the low 40s.
North winds will be steady in the 20s, forecasters say, with gusts topping 30 miles an hour. Patchy frost is possible overnight, with lows dropping to the low 30s.
