Wichita fell just short……..

……..of matching the record high for March 15 last Friday.

The official high at the weather service office in west Wichita was 80, one degree below the record set in 1914.

But Russell and Salina both set records for the date, with highs of 85 and 87 respectively.

Wichita weather: More teases from spring before winter reappears

Wichita can expect another sunny and mild March day Tuesday.

Forecasters say highs will climb into the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies. Winds won’t be as strong today as they were Monday, with the easterly breezes staying in the teens.

Lows will flirt with the 20s overnight under mostly clear skies, forecasters say. Winds will shift to the north but remain light.

Wednesday is expected to offer more sunshine but cooler temperatures as well. Highs will top out in the low 50s, with north winds gusting to nearly 20 miles an hour.

Chances for rain arrive Wednesday night, and then mixes of rain and snow into the weekend.
