Wichita weather: Sunny and not as cold

Sunny skies will again grace the Wichita area, but it’s the gentler winds that residents of the area will probably notice the most on Wednesday.

Forecasters say highs will climb into the mid-40s, with north winds staying light before shifting to the southeast by afternoon. Overnight lows will bottom out in the upper 20s, with southeast winds crawling into the double digits.

A dramatic warmup arrives Thursday, forecasters say, with highs projected to flirt with 60 degrees. Southerly winds gusting to nearly 30 miles an hour will help hoist the temperatures.

Highs will soar into the low 60s on Friday, forecasters say, with thunderstorms likely over the weekend.

Wichita weather: Sunny skies return

Sunshine is the order of the day for the Wichita area, forecasters say, with highs peaking in the low 40s.

It’ll be breezy, too, with northwest winds gusting to nearly 35 miles an hour.

Lows are projected to slip into the low 20s overnight, forecasters say, with northwest winds easing to single digits. Gusts will still approach 25 miles an hour, though.

Wednesday should be a bit warmer, forecasters say, with highs in the mid- to upper 40s. And Thursday should see the start of a distinct warming trend.
