After tying a record high on Sunday, Wichita is poised to shatter the temperature record for January 28 today.
Sunday’s high was 69, and today’s projected high of 75 would easily surpass the mark of 72 set two years ago. Fog may slow down the morning commute, forecasters say, but southerly winds will pick up by mid-morning and gain strength throughout the day. Gusts could top 30 miles an hour.
Lows will drop into the upper 40s overnight under partly cloudy skies. South winds will remain gusty, topping out at more than 30 miles an hour. Forecasters say temperatures will only warm a few degrees on Tuesday, edging into the low 50s in the Wichita area.
Winds will shift to the north, blowing steadily in the upper teens. Gusts will push near 30 miles an hour again.
Wednesday will be chilly, with highs in the low 40s.
