Wichita weather: A surge into the 60s

The week will end with a bit of sizzle in the Wichita area, with highs soaring all the way to the 60s, forecasters say.

Gusty winds out of the south-southwest are boosting the temperatures, with morning breezes steady in the teens and afternoon winds increasing to the 20s. Gusts are expected to approach 35 miles an hour.

Overnight lows will dip into the low 30s, forecasters say, with the south-southwest winds easing into the teens. Gusts will near 25 miles an hour.

The weekend will be sunny, forecasters say, but there will be a sharp contrast in temperatures. Saturday’s high will be near 60, while highs on Sunday will only reach the low to mid-40s.
