It’s not exactly cause to break out the shorts and T-shirts, but Wichita could well enjoy its warmest day of the year today.
Highs could climb to the mid- to upper 50s in the metropolitan area, forecasters say. That would top the 54 of Monday, which currently ranks as 2013′s warmest.
South winds gusting above 20 miles an hour will help temperatures climb, though a layer of thin high clouds will keep readings from going even higher.
Overnight lows are expected to bottom out in the low 30s under mostly cloudy skies, forecasters say. Winds will be light and variable, shifting from the south to the north as the overnight hours unspool.
Chances for rain enter the forecast Wednesday and persist through Thursday night, forecasters say.
