The morning commute could be slick in spots around the Wichita metropolitan area, thanks to the season’s first detectable snowfall.
Perhaps an inch is expected in the Wichita area, and elevated roadways could be slick, said Jim Caruso, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wichita.
Skies are expected to begin clearing by mid-morning, with highs only reaching the upper 30s. Winds out of the northwest will be in the 20s this morning, dropping to the teens by later in the day. But gusts could top 35 miles an hour.
Skies should be clear by nightfall, allowing temperatures to fall into the teens. Winds will be out of the west by then, easing into the single digits.
Forecasters expect a nice rebound in temperatures by Friday, with highs surging into the 50s under sunny skies. Temperatures will be helped by light south winds occasionally touching double digits.
