Sandy is blamed for more than 60 deaths in the U.S. and the damage will be measured in the billions. Coastal cities are burning, and for some life will never be the same.
As clean-up and recovery begins, scientists are taking a look back at how closely reality matched the forecasts. According to one science blogger, the forecasters nailed it.

There shouldn’t be any scary weather in the Wichita area for Halloween, forecasters say.
In fact, it should be beautiful – sunny skies, light winds out of the south-southwest and highs in the low 70s. Trick-or-treaters can expect comfortable conditions tonight, with a bright moon overhead.
Overnight lows under mostly clear skies should drop to the upper 40s, forecasters say, and Thursday is expected to offer more sunshine and highs in the mid-70s.
