Highs today will only reach the low 60s, forecasters say, with gusty north winds adding another layer of chill to the day. The highs will be about 20 degrees lower than Wednesday in Wichita. North winds will be steadily above 20 miles an hour, with gusts topping 30 miles an hour.
Overnight lows under partly cloudy skies will slip into the mid-40s, with northerly winds easing to single digits.
Friday will be even chillier, forecasters say, with highs in the upper 50s under partly cloudy skies. Winds will shift to the east-northeast, with gusts touching 20 miles an hour.
The weekend will have some real bite to it for early October, with highs in the 40s on Saturday and 50s on Sunday. Lows will drop to the low 30s on Saturday night – with frost as a real possibility.
