Temperatures and wind speeds will be climbing in the Wichita area today, forecasters say.
A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect from late morning to early evening in 10 counties across southern and eastern Kansas, including the Wichita metropolitan area.
Highs today in Wichita should reach the low 90s under sunny skies, forecasters say, with south winds strengthening from the teens into the 20s and gusting above 35 miles an hour.
Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s with clear skies and more gusty south winds.
Wednesday is expected to offer more sunshine, forecasters say, with highs touching 90. South winds will again be robust, with steady breezes in the teens and gusts approaching 30 miles an hour.
A chance of showers arrives Wednesday night and should linger into Friday, forecasters say.
