The excessive heat warning hangs on for another day as the temperature begins its inexorable climb well above 100 again today in the Wichita area.
The heat warning remains in effect until 7 p.m., with heat indices of as much as 108 in the region today. Forecasters are calling for a high of about 106 today in Wichita, with sunny skies and light south-southeast winds.
Overnight lows will fall into the upper 70s under mostly clear skies. Winds will remain light out of the southeast, staying in the single digits.
Thursday will be hotter still, forecasters say, with highs of at least 107. Triple digits are expected in Wichita through Saturday before a cool front is expected to bring some relief on Sunday.
