Wichita weather: The 100s return – and they’ll stick around for a while

After a two-day break, the 100s return to the Wichita area today.

Highs today will reach 101 today under sunny skies, forecasters say. Winds will be out of the south-southeast in the teens, with gusts nearing 30 miles an hour.

Overnight lows will be in the mid-70s under clear skies, with south winds staying strong even after sunset. Winds will be in the teens, with gusts topping 35 miles an hour.

Independence Day should see highs climbing to 102 in Wichita, forecasters say, with south winds in the teens and gusting to nearly 30 miles an hour.

Temperatures are expected to hit triple digits each day through the weekend in the Wichita area, forecasters say.
