Another day of scorching temperatures awaits the Sunflower State today, including the Wichita metropolitan area.
An excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday for 55 counties in Kansas, including all of eastern and large portions of central and northern sections of the state.
Highs in Wichita should reach 106 under sunny skies, forecasters say, with south-southwest winds in the teens. Gusts could surpass 25 miles an hour.
Overnight lows will barely dip below 80 degrees under mostly clear skies, and Friday should see highs of around 106 again. The weekend will see the hot, dry weather continue.
