Wichita weather: Sunny, warm and breezy

A textbook spring day in Kansas is in the forecast for the Wichita area, forecasters say.

Sunny skies, highs in the mid-80s and a blustery south wind can be expected in the region. South winds will be in the upper teens and strengthen into the upper 20s, with gusts surging into the upper 30s.

Overnight lows will be remarkably warm for early May, falling only into the upper 60s. Winds will remain strong, gusting to more than 30 miles an hour.

A slight chance of showers enters the forecast on Thursday, forecasters say, when highs will climb into the upper 80s. Winds will again be out of the south, blowing steadily in the upper teens to low 20s and gusting above 30 miles an hour.
