Friday’s rainfall sets a record in Wichita

So much rain fell in Wichita last Friday that it obliterated the record for Feb. 3, weather officials say.

The 2.86 inches measured at Mid-Continent Airport was nearly three times the record of 1.09 inches set back in 1955.

If that seems like a mighty low record, keep in mind that most of the time any precipitation falling on Feb. 3 is typically snow or sleet. If temperatures had been cold enough on Friday, Wichita would have been buried under more than two feet of snow.
