The thermometer at Wichita’s official recording station hit 100 at 11:39 a.m., vaulting 2011 atop the list of most days of triple-digit temperatures.
Today raises that number to 51, surpassing the 50 of 1936. Another temperature record could fall today – this one for highest temperature on September 1.
The record is 107, set in 1990. Forecasters say today could easily be warmer than that.
Stay tuned.
