Yes, those are snow flurries around Wichita this morning….

…….but there shouldn’t be any accumulation, weather officials say.

The light snow should be ending by late morning. The rest of the day will be cold, and the next storm system will arrive Wednesday.

Snow should begin falling Wednesday evening in the Wichita area and continue through Thursday morning, forecasters say. Much of central and south-central Kansas should receive an inch or two of snow, with isolated areas getting three inches.

Wind chills will be near or below zero Wednesday night and Thursday in the region, forecasters say.

Wichita weather: Some sun, but colder

After an almost balmy Monday, Wichita slips back into more seasonal temperatures today even as the sun makes an appearance.

Forecasters say highs will peak near freezing today under partly sunny skies, thanks to a cold front that moved through. North winds will gust to nearly 25 miles an hour, bringing the term “wind chill” back to our experience of the day.

Lows will be in the teens under mostly cloudy skies, forecasters say, with winds easing.

A chance of snow arrives Wednesday afternoon and persists through Thursday morning. Check later forecasts for updated snowfall estimates.
