Wichita won’t set a record for high temperature for a second straight day, but forecasters say it’ll still be awfully warm for late November.
Sunday saw the thermometer hit 73 in Wichita, breaking the old mark for November 21 set in 1966 by a single degree.
Patchy morning fog is possible in the Wichita metropolitan area, but black ice
won’t be a concern because temperatures won’t be near freezing. Highs today should top out in the upper 60s, nearly 10 degrees below the record high.
Winds will shift during the day, forecasters say, starting out from the south in the single digits and then flipping around to the north and strengthening as the day lengthens.
That wind shift will signal the start of a dramatic change in Wichita’s weather, as temperatures will begin to fall sharply through much of the rest of the week. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the 50s, and then plunge about 20 degrees for Thanksgiving Day.
Wind chills could drop below zero in central Kansas Wednesday night and fall into the single digits in the Wichita area that same evening.
No precipitation is in the forecast for the next several days, however.
