The Discovery Channel’s “Storm Chasers” series dedicated its Wednesday night episode to Matt Hughes, the Valley Center storm chaser who died May 26 at the age of 30.
Here’s a video tribute to Matt, whom I profiled with his buddy Brandon Ivey in October 2009. It was put together by friends at The Storm Report, and is posted with their permission.
Matt was an intelligent, thoughtful man who recognized the importance of keeping things in perspective as he chased storms. As enthusiastic as he was about seeing severe weather unfold, he never lost sight of the tremendous damage to lives and property those storms can cause.
He will be missed.
