The work week concludes with a pleasant, sunny day in the Wichita metropolitan area.
Forecasters say highs should top 70, with south winds strengthening as the day unfolds. Those winds will be in the single digits early, then intensify to more than 20 miles an hour by late in the afternoon. Gusts could approach 30 miles an hour.
Overnight lows are expected to fall into the 40s, forecasters say, and then Saturday should be warmer still. Highs are projected to reach the mid-70s, and southerly winds should be lighter than today – staying in the single digits.
