The breezy spell that has announced the arrival of October will continue today and later on the weekend, forecasters say.
Sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 60s will be accompanied by west-northwest winds intensifying from the single digits to gusts of more than 30 miles an hour by this afternoon.
The winds will taper off overnight, but not by much, with gusts topping 20 miles an hour as the thermometer bobs in the low 40s.
Saturday should bring a respite from the wind, meteorologists say, with northwest winds staying in the single digits as highs reach the upper 60s again under sunny skies.
But Sunday will be breezy, with cloudy skies and a chance for showers. Southeasterly winds will peak near 30 miles an hour and temperatures are expected to climb near 70.
