WICHITA – The heat goes on for Wichita as June says farewell today.
Temperatures will reach the mid-90s under sunny skies in the metro area, forecasters say, with light northerly winds staying in the single digits. Lows overnight will dip to the mid-60s, before Wednesday offers a repriseof today: sunshine and mid-90s for highs.
A chance of rain arrives Wednesday night and again Thursday afternoon, forecasters say.

It was 29 years ago on this day the high temperature soared to 110 degrees. That’s the highest temp. ever in June. So it is nothing compared to that year (1980).
That summer of 1980 was horrible in Emporia, too, where I then lived. “Lows” at night were in the mid-80s, and the heat lasted well into August. Unbelievable. Hope we never see that kind of heat again. Made the 100s this week and last week seem like child’s play.
Hey,I lived in that area when I was a young, but now I live a few miles north. Last night it got down to 50 and today will be about 70. This is the way it has been all spring. Now, if the Snowbirds travel to south Texas to escape the COLD (and it doesn’t get that cold), why not be a Sunbird and go a few miles north to escape that heat,and I know what’s it’s like because i’ve been there. we all know that one can put on a little more clothes(sweatshirt) if it’s a little cool,but if it’s too hot no matter how much you take off you still going to be hot.
