A stalled front is expected to trigger strong thunderstorms around Kansas – including the Wichita area – later today, forecasters warn.
Heavy rain, hail as large as golf balls and even a few tornadoes are expected with the storms. Highs should reach the upper 80s under mostly cloudy skies in the Wichita area. Winds are calm this morning, but will gain strength as the unfolds, gusting to above 25 miles an hour from the south and southeast.
More storms are possible again Tuesday, forecasters say, but they could well be east of the Wichita metropolitan area.

Uh oh, look out everyone there is some rain coming into the area along with some wind.
Remember last week when they had us under a Moderate Risk….and nothing happened?
I remember last week when we were under a moderate risk and nothing happened. I remember April 26th of 1991 when we were told all week to be watchful that day and my house got hit by an f-5 tornado. I remember May 3rd of 1999 when we were under a moderate risk and my house then got hit by an f-4 tornado. So, you don’t have to be paranoid. Just take the weather mans advise and stay alert. Don’t bury your head in the sand.
I guess it does say moderate risk of severe weather, not moderate risk of tornadoes. There was some large hail at my house last week, that counts as SW.
Today there’s not an MCS to the east to share the energy with. last time I was outside there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Heat, heat, heat!
