A soggy Friday looms for Wichita

Folks who forgot their umbrella or raincoat on their way to work or school today in the Wichita metropolitan area are likely to have reason to regret it.

Forecasters say there’s a strong chance of rain in the region today, especially after 10 a.m. Showers have already developed in central Kansas.

Some of the storms could be strong, with hail possible. But forecasters say limited instability should keep tornadoes from being a threat with these storms.

Highs are expected to reach the mid-60s. Winds will be out of the east, blowing steadily in the teens and gusting to the mid-20s. The rain is expected to continue through the evening.

Saturday could see more storms, with some of them strong enough to produce hail. Highs are forecast to reach the low 70s.
